This Learning Element deliberately focuses on the alignment of assessment, curriculum and pedagogy. In addition, the explicit identification of the curriculum knowledges and the curriculum literacies in the assessment task, flows through in the explicit teaching activities framed within the Learning by Design knowledge processes.
In this learning element students choose three family treasures and collect information about them from their families using a student generated questionnaire. Students then identify important information and analyse this in order to share the story of their family treasures with their class. Students' final product will explain what they found out about one of these treasures on a written and illustrated page for their class book “Our Family Treasures”.
